T2 Safety Notice and Recall

Important! Safety Notice and Recall of Fluke ScopeMeter® 100MHz and 200MHz 4 Channel Hand Held Oscilloscope

Fluke Corporation is voluntarily recalling all units of its 100MHz & 200MHz 4 channel ScopeMeter® test tool that contains firmware version V10.40. The units were manufactured after February 6, 2012 and have serial numbers in the range of 1954xxxx to 2009xxxx. Serial numbers are on both the unit and the outside of the instrument box.

Please stop selling these 4 channel products immediately and return all affected inventory per the instructions below.

In the meantime, if customers contact you regarding their model Fluke 190-104/xx, Fluke 190-104/xx/S, or Fluke 190-204/xx or Fluke 190-204xx/S please instruct them to stop using the instrument immediately and check the firmware version. If their instrument contains firmware version V10.40, the customer needs to contact Fluke directly (www.fluke.com or 1-800-44FLUKE).

Note that this recall applies only to the products listed below, and does not apply to the Fluke ScopeMeter 190 Series 2 channel models.

Effected Items:

Model Numbers Item Number Description
FLUKE-190-104/xx 4025180 SCOPEMETER 4 CHANNEL 100 MHZ COLOR
FLUKE-190-104/xx/S 4025253 SCOPEMETER 4 CHANNEL 100 MHZ COLOR
FLUKE-190-204/xx 3894569 SCOPEMETER 4 CHANNEL 200 MHZ COLOR
FLUKE-190-204/xx/S 3894494 SCOPEMETER 4 CHANNEL 200 MHZ COLOR

Description of the Problem – The recalled ScopeMeter® is used to observe the exact wave shape of an electrical signal and obtain measurement readout values. Four channel models with the latest firmware (V10.40) have a potential to display the decimal point of the measurement value in the wrong position. This poses a potential safety risk for the user, as an unsafe voltage may be indicated as a much lower (safe) voltage. This potential safety risk could result in serious injury or death.

Solution – Fluke has developed a firmware fix that the end-user can either download at ww.fluke.com/firmware fix or, end users have the option of returning their units to Fluke for upgrade or replacement. The firmware version of the product can be checked by following these steps. Disconnect the Scopemeter® from any signal source, with the unit turned on and facing you, press the user key located at the bottom right side of the instrument front panel, next press F3 (Version and Cal). The firmware version is then displayed with other instrument information.
