Product overview: 68IS Intrinsically Safe IR Thermometer

The Fluke 68IS offers intrinsically safe high temperature measurements and a 50:1 distance to spot ratio

The Fluke 68IS Infrared Thermometer is designed for extreme temperatures and hazardous electrical troubleshooting and predictive/preventive maintenance environments. The 68IS (Intrinsically Safe) model is approved by Factory Mutual Research, a USA organization, for use in Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B,C,D Class I, Zone 0, AEx ia IIC, T4 environments at 50 C when used with 9 V alkaline battery. This approval includes the probe that comes with it. Approval does not apply to atmosphere containing coal dust, grain dust, metal dust, or fibers. Check your national and company regulations to determine if this approval is appropriate for your situation. (Not available for purchase in Europe)

Like the standard Fluke 68, the Fluke 68IS can measure up to 760°C (1400°F), log data, hold the last reading, and allows you to adjust emissivity. Plus its 50:1 distance to spot ratio can keep you away from high temperature, high voltage and other dangerous situations helping you find:

  • Faulty terminations in high power electrical circuits
  • Overloaded circuit breakers in a power panel
  • Fuses at or near their current rated capacity
  • Problems in electrical switch gear
  • Overheated bearings in large motors or other rotating equipment
  • Offers 12-point data logging
  • Incorporates advanced optics to measure smaller targets at greater distances
  • Features adjustable emissivity for more accurate temperature measurements
  • Provides MAX, MIN, DIF and AVG functions to help you quickly identify problems
  • Includes Hi and Lo alarms for rapid display of measurements outside the limits
  • Works with optional probe accessory for dual contact and non-contact temperature measurements
