PRESS RELEASE : Fluke sweeps test instruments category in Consulting Specifying Engineer Product of the Year awards

EVERETT, Wash. – Test instruments from Fluke Corporation, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, have swept Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in Product of the Year voting by readers of Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) magazine.

Fluke's grand slam in the test instruments, meters and data loggers category includes a Gold award for the Fluke Ti25 Thermal Imager, a Silver for the Fluke TiR1 Thermal Imager, and a Bronze award for the Fluke 416D Laser Distance Meter. No other test instrument manufacturer received an award.

"The Product of the Year competition illuminates the products design engineers and specifiers are valuing for MEP systems in nonresidential buildings," said Michael Ivanovich, editor-in-chief, CSE. "In this tough economy, construction and operating budgets are under stress while sustainability issues for energy, water, and materials are growing. Flexibility, modularity, efficiency and durability seemed to be factors shared by many of this year's winners."

The Fluke Ti25 Thermal Imager, winner of the Gold Award, is designed as a complete, effective and easy-to-use thermal imaging solution for everyday troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical installations, electro-mechanical equipment, process equipment, HVAC/R equipment and other industrial and electrical equipment.

The Fluke TiR1 Thermal Imager, winner of the Silver Award, is an affordable and complete solution optimized for building envelope, weatherization and energy audits, restoration and remediation, inspection and roofing applications.

Both models are engineered to survive tough conditions in the field, and both incorporate IR Fusion®, a user-preferred technology that integrates infrared and visual (visible light) images in full screen or picture-in-picture views for enhanced problem detection and analysis. IR-Fusion helps users recognize image details and better identify problem areas by quickly scrolling through the different viewing modes. Fluke SmartView® software (with free software upgrades for the life of the product) is included with each thermal imager, enabling users to edit images in five viewing modes and generate customizable, professional-looking reports in a few steps.

The Bronze Award-winning Fluke 416D Laser Distance Meter precisely and quickly measures distances using advanced laser technology, helping electricians, facilities managers and HVAC contractors save time and labor. The Fluke 416D measures up to 200 feet (60.96 meters) with accuracy of +/- 1.5 mm. Users can easily add or subtract measurements and quickly calculate area and volume.

Companies self-nominated their best products introduced or refined in 2008. Up to five finalists were selected in each of 10 categories by a panel of judges comprised of professional engineers who regularly design and specify HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems. Subscribers to CSE began voting in May to determine the ranking of the finalists as gold, silver, or bronze winners.
