EVERETT, Wash. – Fluke Corporation has contributed electric test instruments to help U.S. Naval Seabees with one of the world's most challenging construction projects, at Al Asad Airbase in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.
Members of the Seabee Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 24 were busy building new support bases and a triage wing for a hospital there. When they found themselves short of electrical multimeters they asked Fluke, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, for help. Fluke responded with a shipment of several refurbished Fluke 87V Industrial Digital Multimeters (DMMs).
Fluke DMMs are used to ensure the safety and operation of installed electrical systems and to troubleshoot a variety of equipment - everything from air conditioning systems to heavy equipment. They are also useful when maintaining and repairing electrical systems, including chiller systems, pump systems, generators and more.
"Anytime our Seabees receive support from back home," Commanding Officer Tim Simpson wrote to Fluke, "they receive a huge morale boost and much needed encouragement to carry out their daily missions."
"It's heart-warming to see the impact a small gesture can have on our troops," said Fluke Senior Service Provider Marty Kidd, who spent 10 years in the US Air Force. "I know what it's like to be out there, wondering if people back home are thinking about what you're doing ... I hope we get more opportunities to let our troops know we care."
