PRESS RELEASE : Fluke introduces ATEX and FM-certified process calibrator
EVERETT, WA - The new Fluke 707Ex Loop Calibrator is the first in a new line of test tools from Fluke developed specifically for use in hazardous environments such as petrochemical plants, oil platforms and refineries, and other locations subject to risk of explosion. The 707Ex meets Factory Mutual (FM) certification and complies with the latest European ATEX (ATmospheric EXplosibles) directive, effective July 1, 2003, which applies to all new products used in these environments.
With this new calibrator Fluke combines its state-of-the-art technology in handheld test tools with the latest ATEX certification that ensures users a high standard of protection against risk of explosion (EX 2 G EEX ia IIC T4, CENELEC Zones 1 and 2 - where hydrocarbons/gases may be present during normal or abnormal operation). FM certification for the 707Ex is N.I. Class 1, Division 2, Groups A-D.
Cost-effective, integrated process calibration solution The Fluke 707Ex Loop Calibrator offers a cost-effective, integrated solution for calibration, repair and maintenance of current loops in classified areas. The 707Ex features an ergonomic design that combines the best of both knob- and button-based calibrators in a single device. With features like span check, manual stepping and automatic ramping, the 707Ex is very easy to use. Pushbutton-selectable 25 percent voltage steps allow quick, easy linearity checks, while the built-in span check function enables fast zero and span confirmation. Both loop current sourcing and simulating are standard, allowing measurement of current while at the same time providing 24 V loop power from the internal loop supply. Selectable slow ramp, fast ramp and step functions provide the user with test signals needed for valve slewing and loop functional tests, allowing a single technician to troubleshoot the entire loop. Readings are in both mA and %, making the 707Ex ideal for process instrument technicians across a wide range of industries. For convenient operation the 707Ex has one handed operation with the 'quick click' rotary knob. Also provided is loop resistance for use with HART instrumentation.
The 707Ex uses a single 9 V battery that can be quickly changed without breaking the calibration seal.
Availability and Price The 707Ex Loop Calibrator will be available after May 1, 2003 for a suggested U.S. list price of $875.
