When we asked the question “What’s in your tool bag?” for our contest in the April issue of Fluke News Plus, we weren’t sure what to expect. We heard from 75 readers representing a broad range of industries and job titles. Respondents came from oil and gas, utilities, manufacturing, HVAC, telecommunications, and health care, to name a few. And we heard from engineers, technicians, electricians, maintenance mechanics, metrologists, and many more.
Despite the diverse backgrounds of those who responded, when asked to name your most essential tool, nearly 60 percent of you named a digital multimeter (DMM). Other mentions included clamp meters, thermal imagers, ScopeMeter® test tool, electrical testers, process calibrators, and just plain hand tools. Judging by those results, it sounds like multimeters are must-have tools for just about every tool bag.
Take a fun look back at tool chests from the last 150 years or so.
